Summer Junior Program

For the 2018 Summer Season, we will be offering Two 4 week sessions of junior programs so that our youngsters can continue practicing year round!   In addition to our Apex Tennis Camp & Apex Tournament Tough Camp, we will be offering our  preschool, 10 & Under and Academy programs throughout the summer.   These programs will be run Outdoors at Waynflete’s Fore River Fields tennis courts that are located at 283 Osgood Street, Portland, ME 04102 with the Apex Racket & Fitness being used as the rain back up!  All summer junior programs will start the week of June 25, 2018.

Session Schedule:
Summer Session #1:  June 25 – 28, 2018 (no classes will be held during 4th of July week)
Summer Session #2:  July 30 – August 25, 2018

Preschool Tennis
Mommy / Daddy & ME
Ages:  3 – 5 years old
Times:  Mondays 11:15 – 12:00 PM
Cost:  $60  for one class per week
Players are introduced to the Game of Tennis, basic tennis skills as well as the lead up skills required to be an athlete and a tennis player.  Players are encouraged to bring Mom, Dad or another adult in order to learn the skills and games together and be able to practice at home.  Players can also come without an adult.

10 & Under Tennis (1)
Ages:  5  – 7 years old
Times:  Mondays & Wednesdays 9:00 – 10:00 AM
Cost:
  $80 for one class a week, $140 for two classes a week
This program is for those juniors aged 5 – 7 years old that are just starting out in tennis.   We incorporate both red and orange balls into this clinic.  It focuses on athletic movements, skill development, hand-eye coordination and basic stroke technique.   Players should be able to listen, follow instructions, control at least a 19″ racket & be able to exercise moderately for 1 hour.

10 & Under Tennis (2)
Ages:  
8 – 11  years old
Times:  Mondays & Wednesdays 10:00 – 11:00 AM
Cost:  $80 for one class a week, $140 for two classes a week
This program is for those juniors aged 8  – 10 years old that are just starting out in tennis.   We incorporate both red and orange balls into this clinic.  It focuses on athletic movements, skill development, hand-eye coordination and basic stroke technique.   Players should be able to listen, follow instructions, control at least a 21″ racket & be able to exercise moderately for 1 hour.

Apex Burgundy Academy
Ages:
  12 – 18 years old
Times: Mondays & Wednesdays  9:00-11:00 AM
Cost:
$325 for two classes a week
For players actively playing competitive tennis who wish to take their games to the next level through hard work, high intensity drills and tournament play.  It focuses on using proper technique to create heavy groundstrokes, proper footwork for different situations, the development of all-court skills (slice, volleys, overhead), commanding different spins on the serve, and singles & doubles point play.   Players can sustain topspin rally for 10-20 shots with a yellow (real) ball, rally using forehand and backhand volleys, are consistent with first & second serves, and are starting to build points through tactical awareness.
